BritchamDR appoints Nicole Toribio as new Executive Vice President of the Board

Nicole Marie Toribio Estrella has a solid track record in leadership within regulated sectors in the Dominican Republic, with a notable background in executive management and academia.
 
She recently held the position of Executive Director at the Dominican Association of Insurance Brokers (ADOCOSE), where she has led key initiatives for the development of the dominican insurance sector. In addition, she is a lecturer for the course “Ethics and Corporate Governance” in the Master’s in Business Administration program at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM).
 
Her teaching approach focuses on the importance of Corporate Governance, a key element for strengthening companies. She has a solid academic background, with a Bachelor’s degree in Law (Cum Laude) from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM), a Specialization in Business Law from the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and a Master’s in Economic Law from the University of Salamanca.
 
Her continuous education includes multiple diplomas and seminars in areas such as financial regulation, corporate social responsibility, consumer law, corporate governance and soft skills such as communication, leadership, critical thinking and problem-solving. Nicole is a versatile professional with skills in English and French.
 
Her commitment to excellence and the development of regulated economic sectors positions her as an influential leader in her field.

Royal Opera Alliance RD presents Swan Lake

On August 25, 2024, Alianza Royal Opera RD broadcast Swan Lake on the big screen of the Carlos Piantini room at the Eduardo Brito National Theater.
 
This story tells the impossible love of Prince Siegfried and Odette, a young queen turned into a swan along with her entire court by the spell of the evil wizard Rothbar. She can only regain her human form at night and will only be freed from the spell by the one who promises her eternal love.

The British Chamber of Commerce celebrates 25th Royal Cup

The British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic held the XXV edition of the Royal Cup on the past Saturday, July 27th, of the previous year. The traditional event was held at the exclusive Teeth of the Dog golf course, Casa de Campo.
 
The opening and closing of the event was attended by the vice president of the board, Mr. Ryan Polanco, as well as five past presidents: Fernando Gonzalez, Leonel Melo, José Rodríguez, Roberto Herrera and José María Cabral, to whom the tournament was dedicated in recognition of his hard work as founder of the tournament and the entity.
 
Cabral was also the one who made the honorary kick-off that inaugurated the game actions.The XXVRoyal Cup had the participation of 120 golfers who competed under the Scramble modality in pairs in categories A, B and C.
 
The winners were the member of the Dominican national team, Rhadamés Peña and Luis Matos (also representing the country in important competitions). With their victory, Peña and Matos have their names on the big cup, and have earned the right to carry two replicas of the trophy awarded at The Open Championship, The Claret Jug. The pair posted a score of 63 strokes that earned them the award for best gross score.

The British Chamber of Commerce celebrates the XXV Royal Cup of Golf with a press conference

On July 3rd, BritChamDR held a press conference to celebrate the traditional Royal Cup golf tournament that will take place on Saturday, July 27th at Teeth of the Dog golf course, Casa de Campo.

The president of BritChamDR, Amauris Vásquez, and the technical director of the tournament, Félix Olivo, informed that the competition will be in the form of a scramble in pairs within categories A, B and C. The three best net scores and the best gross score of the tournament will be awarded, among other special gifts and prizes.

The Commercial Officer of the Embassy of the United Kingdom, Graham Jessup, and Mr. Fernando González Nicolás, former president and founder of BritChamDR attended the press conference with a brief intervention to encourage participation. The kick-off will be in charge of José María Cabral, to whom this XXV edition is dedicated for his initiative in the British golf cup.

The British Chamber of Commerce calls its members to hold the Annual Ordinary General Meeting

Last Thursday, June 6th, the British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic held its Annual Ordinary General Meeting to present the results of periods 2022 and 2023. This meeting was held at the Casa OMG offices, a member of our Board of Directors.

The main objective of the referred meeting was to report to our members and highlight the efforts made to implement mechanisms that promote and encourage trade relations, cultural, educational and investment exchange between the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic.

In our recent board of directors meeting of BRITCHAMDR, held yesterday, Monday, December 11, we had the privilege of reflecting on the achievements of 2023 and charting a strategic path for 2024.⁠

The X Dominican Week in the United Kingdom concludes with big success

The British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic (BritchamDR) is pleased to successfully close the year 2023 with a series of events that yielded extraordinary results.

From a financial, positioning, and networking standpoint, BritchamDR has marked a milestone that only commits its Board of Directors, Working Committees, and Executive Team to an even more prosperous and successful 2024. This year was about connecting both nations and showcasing various Dominican brands in high socio-economic impact cultural and commercial events.

We concluded with a grand finale with our 10th edition of the traditional Dominican Week in London, which featured a diverse and interesting program combining business themes with musical culture and the influence of prominent personalities from both the United Kingdom and the Dominican Republic.

It was a vibrant and multifaceted celebration that merged the best of Dominican culture, gastronomy, and business. From November 13 to 17, the most important officials and executives of our country gathered, with a delegation of more than 200 people including over 100 Dominicans and 85 foreigners, to discuss various productive sectors and highlight the importance of cultural and gastronomic exchange.

Doors were opened to offers from different sectors, positioning the Dominican Republic as a Global Logistic Hub and Nearshoring destination.

BritchamDR, in partnership with the Dominican Embassy in the United Kingdom and the British Embassy in the Dominican Republic and their respective teams, achieved the development of a busy agenda over four days.

The British Chamber of Commerce celebrates the XXIV Royal Cup of Golf

SANTO DOMINGO.- The British Chamber of Commerce of the Dominican Republic held the XXIV edition of the Royal Cup on the past Saturday, August 5th, of the previous year.

The classic, which features a large rotating cup on which all the winners of the tournament are inscribed, was held at the exclusive Teeth of the Dog golf course, Casa de Campo.

The details of this activity were provided by the president of BRITCHAM, Amauris Vásquez Disla, and the Ambassador of His Majesty of the United Kingdom in the country, S.E. Mockbul Ali OBE. They explained that the competition began at 8:30 in the morning under the scramble format in pairs in categories A, B, and C. In each category, the three lowest net scores, as well as the best gross score of the tournament, were awarded.

Additionally, special prizes such as the usual Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin were awarded. On that occasion, there were two holes in one, courtesy of Fiat and Club Car.

The president of BRITCHAM explained that, after the competition, the award ceremony took place, along with multiple raffles and courtesy gifts from the sponsoring companies and BRITCHAM. Also, a replica of the famous British Open Golf Cup, the Claret Jug, was awarded to the best gross score of the tournament, as is tradition.

The honorary tee-off was performed by the Ambassador of His Majesty of the United Kingdom in the country, S.E. Mockbul Ali OBE.
